Stackt help

Questions, answered clearly.

Early Access should still feel understandable. These are the questions people ask most about the app and the number at the centre of it.

Using your number

What is “You Can Spend”?

It is Stackt's working view of what you can spend today after accounting for the money you have already assigned to commitments, protected savings and the rest of your current plan. It is a planning number, not your bank balance.

Why does my number say “Provisional”?

It means Stackt does not yet have enough confirmed information about your commitments or plan to treat the number as fully settled. Confirming and updating the real figures makes it firmer.

What is the difference between Activity and Transactions?

Transactions show the money movements you logged. Activity explains what changed around those movements, including changes to your spendable amount, pace, savings progress and other useful signals.

Does Stackt move my money or connect to my bank?

No. In this Early Access version, Stackt is a planning tool. It does not connect to your bank account and it does not move money.

Privacy, access and recovery

Where is my information stored?

Your financial planning entries and profile information are stored locally in the browser or installed Stackt app on your device. There is no cloud backup in this Early Access version.

What happens if I forget my passcode?

Use the recovery code you saved during setup. A valid recovery code lets you create a new passcode without deleting the Stackt information stored on that device.

Why is the recovery code so important?

It is the non-destructive recovery route if you forget your passcode. Stackt stores a verifier rather than a readable copy of the code, so Stackt cannot retrieve the original code for you. Keep your own copy somewhere safe outside the app.

What if I lose both my passcode and recovery code?

The remaining option is to reset Stackt on that device and start again. That removes locally stored Stackt data. If you previously exported a supported backup, you can restore the supported planning data after setup.

How do backups work?

In Settings, export a Stackt backup file and keep it somewhere you control. Importing that file can restore supported Stackt planning data. Export a fresh backup before clearing browser data or switching devices.

Installing and using Stackt

Can I use Stackt offline?

After the app has loaded and been installed or cached on your device, core app screens and locally stored data can continue to work offline. Features that depend on the browser or network may vary by device.

How do I install Stackt on my phone?

Open stackttek.com/app/ in your phone browser. On Android, use the browser's Install app or Add to Home screen option. On iPhone, open Stackt in Safari, tap Share, then choose Add to Home Screen.

Can I hide my money amount on Home?

Yes. Tap the eye icon beside the You Can Spend figure. Stackt remembers that preference on the device until you change it again.

How do I clear everything and start again?

Go to Settings and choose Start over completely. Stackt will show a warning before clearing the locally stored setup, planning data, passcode and recovery verifier from that device. Export a backup first if you want to keep supported data.
